Hitman Episode 1 does not impress gamersHitman Episode 1 came out this past week and it hasn’t left most of the community too happy.. From dressing up as event crew to sneak around a fashion show unnoticed to taking the place of a sheikh to infiltrate an underworld auction, there are plenty of ways to achieve your goals in the Paris story mission. The AI responses have improved a little since the beta and avoiding a gun fight is still your best bet at getting the job done. While the game and mechanics aren’t bad, it’s the utter lack of content that concerns me. Hopefully, since this episode had three missions, we can expect a little more content in future episodes based around many real world locations.

Yes, the episodic release schedule means over the next few months the game should come up with a sizable amount of content but releasing one new mission as part of the base game is disappointing. They seem to have gone with the theory that scores and challenges will keep players occupied for a month till the next instalment, however while the fact that the game provides multiple options and a good amount of replay value, that cannot and will not make up for sheer lack of content. Hitman’s core has always been freedom in choosing how and when to assassinate a target, something this instalment does extremely well.

I feel they should have put on a stronger show with at least one more mission to win the community’s trust in their new direction and presentation. At the end of the day Hitman was enjoyable but I was extremely disappointed at the lack of content in the first episode. I had a chance to play the beta and was impressed but I did have my concerns of how they would approach the episodic content release; it seems I was right to be a little wary. Hitman Episode 1 should keep you occupied a good couple of hours. Lack of content aside, the game is good and quite enjoyable.
